Ging’s Short Serious Business Review #2: Eat-Man '98

Synopsis from Anime News Network: The continuing adventures of Bolt Crank, the World's Greatest Mercenary, who has the ability to eat any object, mostly metal and weapons. When the time comes, Bolt can then reproduce those weapons and items in his right hand.

First Impressions: Sweet...this guy is eating shit and summoning arm beasts...cool idea.

Character: Character development in this anime is lacking, the main character doesn't develop at all throughout, but that is not to say that here isn't any, there is a substantial amount of characters who last one episode who have nice quickly done build ups from their 20 minutes of air time. Even then though, it was lacking. 4.3/10

Plot: Having such a neat concept, one would think that the plot would put the character towards some sort of goal towards something or even putting him in a plot. This is by far the worst part of the anime, since it is almost non-existent. There are some small dual part episode story arch's that almost make a plot, but not really. The lack of an ending was also a let down. 2/10

Animation: Slightly above average, not bad at all, but still could use a little more. 7/10

Sound: Nothing worth mentioning, but still decent enough. 6/10

Enjoyment: This is the most troubling part of the anime, while it lacks in so many places, I was drawn to it for some reason I don't know, perhaps it is just the mystery on what the hell is going on, but I think that the enjoyment is higher than everything else mainly because it can make you forget about it's lack of plot until you finish it. 8.5/10

Overall: Pretty bad, although I enjoyed it for reasons I don't understand. You might too if you are up for a weird story you wont know the half of since it never seems to have be given an ending. 6/10

**don’t ask how the hell I come up with the overall score.
